چکیده
Climate change and the continuing increase in human population creates a growing need to tackle urban stormwater problems. One promising mitigation option is by using nature-based solutions (NBS) – especially sustainable management technologies that are key elements of NBS action. We used synthesis approach compile available information about retention capacity most common drainage systems (SUDS) different climatic conditions. Those SUDS targeting through water removal (mainly infiltration, overland flow evapotranspiration), were addressed this study. Selected green roofs, bioretention (i.e. rain gardens), buffer filter strips, vegetated swales, constructed wetlands, water-pervious pavements. found despite vast amount data from real-life applications research results, there lack decisive selected SUDS. The show large variability performance across It therefore challenge set conclusive widely applicable guidelines for implementation based on data. Adequate only evaluate roofs (average 56±20%) we provide comprehensive review function. However, as with other SUDS, still same problem high (min 11% max 99% retention) remains. This limits our ability determine support better planning wider climate zones. further development should be informed developed concurrently adaptation strategies cope change, increasing frequency extreme precipitation events lead volumes runoff.

Urban stormwater runoff contains a broad range of pollutants that are transported to natural water systems. A practice known as biological retention (bioretention) has been suggested to manage stormwater runoff from small, developed areas. Bioretention facilities consist of porous soil, a topping layer of hardwood mulch, and a variety of different plant species. A detailed study of the characte...

Cultivation of an important sub alpine-alpine medicinal and aromatic herb, Angelica archangelica Linn. (Apiaceae), was carried out at two different climatic zone at 2200 m asl (Pothivasa, PV) and 3600 m asl (Tungnath, TN) altitudes in Garhwal, North west Himalaya, India. These altitudes represent temperate and alpine region of the Himalaya. Since the species has a very few wild populations, cul...
متن کاملRole of Resilience in Sustainable Urban Stormwater Management
Typically, best management practices (BMPs) are implemented to help sustainable stormwater management in urban areas. Over recent decades the selection of urban stormwater management measures for a site has been a challenge among urban planners where thecriterion based on flood volume no longer suffices for selecting urban drainage solutions. Therefore there is a need to consider a set of holis...

Stormwater management infrastructure is utilized in urban areas to alleviate flooding caused by decreased landscape permeability from increased impervious surface cover (ISC) construction. In this study, we examined two types of stormwater detention basins, SDB-BMPs (stormwater detention basin-best management practice), and SDB-FCs (stormwater detention basin-flood control). Both are constructe...
